SAN jewels are made of solid silver, i.e. 925 silver.
By definition, it is therefore caused to oxidize, to blacken slightly – it is the small part of copper that is added that is at the origin, pure silver being almost stainless – it is therefore important that you are attentive to its maintenance if you want it keeps its original appearance.
I talk about SAN jewels, not other jewels that may be simply plated or a different alloy.

  • Where and how to store your silver jewels

Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity, without direct exposure to the sun.
So avoid keeping your jewels in the bathroom on a display!
To minimize contact with air and light, one solution is the closed jewels box, or even better to store each piece of jewellery individually in a tissu pocket (which prevents bumps and scratches between jewels).

How to clean silver jewels

→ The easiest, quickest, safest and most ecological way is to use a cleaning cloth or chamois.

→ The other fairly simple method is to apply toothpaste or detergent to a toothbrush and to rub your jewel. Be careful all the same in the case of jewels deliberately oxidized or with blackened parts because you risk removing the desired effect.

→ You can also use a special cleaning bath for silver jewels, much less economical and ecological, and which may also remove the patina of your jewels. This method can be indicated for a polished “mirror” jewel.
